I've been calling our new mode a roguelite for months and then a beta player pointed out that it's actually a roguelike and I feel silly. I had decided that progression of available cards/items/enemies mattered but it seems like it's all about the fully resetting part.
Nic's games are so good and Amberspire is no exception! The world building is amazing in all dimensions.
Steps to code a new feature:
1) Think about how it should work
2) Write all the new functionality
3) Test to discover nothing is working
4) Realize you forgot to connect it to anything
I just did this and felt compelled to share my shame.
All the video game trailers from SGF+ make me want to work on all the games in all the genres.
Events in Amberspire can affect anything from the population of your city to the strength of its factions. Be prepared to manage the outcomes of such events (or keep your Influence high enough that you can sway the results).
