There have been 3 major citizen petitions in Alberta this year. Two of them followed the rules & got the required verified signatures. One stole 3M people’s identities, posed an illegal question, and did not get the verified signatures.

Smith confirmed that the "Water Not Coal" Petition will not be on the October ballot.
Confusingly, she said it could happen as early as Oct 2027, which would be a violation of the Citizen Initiative Act.
So why not just pull the trigger now?
