The epicentre was 28km SSW Glan (population ~110,000) and 58km south of General Santos (population ~700,000), where very strong shaking was reported.
A tsunami warning for waves up to 3m was issued for parts of the Philippine coast, and for waves up to 1m along the Indonesian and Malaysian coast.
