M28 Investigates
Since the disputed October 2024 elections, journalists, bloggers and opposition figures have been targeted by intimidation, disappearances, killings and alleged poisonings, and the authorities do little to nothing to investigate them.
Together with our partners, we examined a series of cases that illustrate the climate of impunity: from the disappearance of radio journalist Ibraimo Mbaruco in 2020, to the killing of blogger Albino Sibia while livestreaming a protest in 2024, the abduction of reporter Arlindo Chissale in 2025.

Journalists attempting to report on the war and the impacts of major gas projects face threats, harassment, arrests and expulsion.
