After assessing midterms, a hypothesis. It’s been my observation that my musicians in physics generally do very well - generally better than peers. This year-as ever-I noted that about 30% of my students who answered incorrectly didn’t really read problem. Not my musicians.🤔 #iteachphysics 1/2

FWIW, since May’s arrived, here’s my all-time favorite teacher joke: It’s toward the end of the school year. Student: “What can I do to improve my grade.” Teacher: “It’s May.” Student: “What MAY I do to improve my grade?” 😂😂😂
Developing next generation of readers. Bringing these to my granddaughter today (kindergarten and beginning to read). I tell my physics students that one of the best ways to do well in physics is to read for 15 consecutive minutes - no distractions - each day; it will rewire your brain.😊 Peace!
Not the Onion, not the NYT Pitchbot. Actual WSJ.😂😂😂
I know my students don’t read much - that’s part of the problem, but: Could it be that my musicians have developed stronger neural networks in this regard specifically because they have to concentrate more? Can’t fake your way through a piece of music. (orchestra / jazz band / piano types) 2/2
Free email newsletter out of the UK for physics Ts: the Physics Staffroom Certainly UK-specific aspects, but I think a good bit relevant to all. @hookean gets a shout out in this one. (odds are I found this in one of your posts) thephysicsstaffroom.beehiiv.com/p/the-physic... #iteachphysics

@annieabrams.bsky.social You May have already see: from tonight’s PBS News Hour. youtu.be/nB5deLzyZ6E?...
Well, they have a precedent: they use Ts for free labor to proctor PSAT, some SATs, and AP exams.🫤 We’re all serfs to them.
A good analogy (metaphor?🤔) for learning physics: it’s not how you fall, but how you get up again. (starting my classes with this tomorrow 😉) #iteachphysics youtu.be/A6Lt3k0Rg8E?...
FWIW: when my physics vets stop by to visit after their first semester at college is pretty danged cool.😎 I’ll be smiling all weekend. (my school does a big Christmas break send off and it’s a tradition where the members of the previous year’s graduating class are invited)
