I saw/loved/shared this art by Ainsley Drew yesterday and have been thinking the same thing since: that’s exactly what I did. That’s how I wrote House of Bone and Rain. I went home and talked to the ghosts. You know, because all stories are ghost stories.
I love meeting students who haven’t read Nnedi Okorafor or Jeff VanderMeer or Kathe Koja or Chester Himes or Tananarive Due or Harry Crews or Premee Mohamed or countless others because there’s always a little voice in my head going, “Hehe, I’m about to blow your mind.”
