In a last-minute hearing, a U.S. district Judge halted the Department of Homeland Security’s attempt to strip 350,000 Haitians of their temporary protected status. The status was set to expire on Tuesday.

DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said the government would appeal the decision.
“Supreme Court, here we come,” she wrote “Temporary means temporary and the final word will not be from an activist judge legislating from the bench.”
