This assumes that those 45% are all in fact the same bloc.
If it's 15% who think the Democrats are too right-wing, 15% who thought Bush vs. Gore was a toss-up, and 15% who'd have been Republicans 20 years ago but have too many principles for what the party has become, that's not a bloc.
