The case where they put a replacement heart valve in upside down is that it’s an important reminder of the need to question everything, even what we think we know. My guess is the surgeon didn’t realize the problem was the valve because it wasn’t on his differential.

Any cardiac surgeons over here? I’d love to hear thoughts on how a valve could be put in the wrong way. They were putting this 13 yo on end-of-life care when the real issue was the surgery.
