Almost exactly the same issues as with student coursework submissions. What’s worst, imao, is that we now also suspect students who do genuinely good work, of cheating. What it does to trust is the worst.
I seem to be in a rut where it is increasingly easy to talk myself out of bike rides. There is plenty to unpack, but a major part of it is I am *really* tired of the 30 minute gauntlet through South Liverpool (and back) to get to quiet lanes.
What a week I've had.
In an era where you couldn't avoid the Bulls, the Knicks were always my team in the NBA (I've got a '98 Ewing jersey in the loft). Given they were always a bit duff, watching the scenes from New York is nice.
I have some serious sympathy with LAs that are cut to the bone, but that sympathy weakens when you see them get the money, and then botch it repeatedly. It's made worse when you seemingly meet disinterest.
We've been doing our forms over the weekend. Amidst the 'additional costs' at the end is £1, per day (per child) for the app the nursery use. The baseline fees are literally for staff time and keeping the building open. www.theguardian.com/money/2026/m...
Like always, in principle this is great. But 1) actively fund it, and 2) actively enforce local authorities to do it *properly*. ATE are a great org, but without the heft of their bigger brother DfT, too many LAs either still don't get it, or still aren't serious. www.gov.uk/government/n...

We also passed an important test this week, letting the week's free Disney+ trial slide without subscribing. And back to acquiring physical media for a pittance from charity shops. We watched Obi-Wan Kenobi, which I largely enjoyed.
Mrs N and my MIL ran a cake stall on a local farmer's market for years. The (entirely reasonable!) regs to show all the ingredients on each item pre-packaged cakes was just too much for them as hobbyists (as much time as cost). It was rubbish, but regs are regs!

One of my favourite gardening landmarks of the year, when we show the world that the garage isn't for a car (and some temporary greening for the front of the house).
