Healthcare systems must also be ready for heat illness, trauma, intoxication, behavioral health crises, cardiac events, and security threats. The goal is not panic; it is layered, practiced readiness before the crowds arrive.
Infectious disease is one critical layer, from measles, influenza, and gastrointestinal illness to travel-associated infections and rare high-consequence pathogens, but it cannot be planned for in isolation.
