A new #bmm release is available on #CRAN. With this version, #bmm now covers basic response time models. This release contains three new models plus several usability features. Here's what's in it 🧵

Habit research has accumulated many tasks that supposedly tap into the same construct, yet their psychometric properties are rarely examined. Here, we assess their construct validity evidence and analyze their reliability to facilitate interpretation of previous studies and guide novel research ⬇️📝
New preprint! @martinezlopezp.bsky.social in this systematic review takes a look at the validity & reliability of current tools used for studying habits in the human lab. There are a lot of them! But studies about construct validity were sparse, while reliability analyses were almost nonexistent...
... the standard approach with tasks based on animal research does not work. These tasks show lack of validity, and poor or non measurable reliability...🥁🥁
No problemo, Pablo took existing public data (when available and useful) and independently analyzed split-half reliability. There is a lot of juicy information in this paper, but a take home message is that... 🥁
Fit computational and measurement models using full Bayesian inference. The package provides a simple and accessible interface by translating complex domain-specific models into brms syntax, a powerfu...
... but the forced-response task, first developed by @adrianhaith.bsky.social and his team, shows good evidence of construct validity (i.e., more habits with more training) and good split-half reliability...
A fantastic opportunity. This is one of the best places to do experimental psychology in the world. And the people is very nice too!
...However, this task doesn't include outcome devaluation; instead, participants are instructed to change their S-R mappings. So, the field maybe should think about to what extent outcome devaluation is needed for studying habits in humans? & plse remember that validity and reliability are crucial!
Not very surprised by this
