@claudialen.bsky.social kicking off the afternoon session of the UK Structural Biology Roadmap Town Hall meeting!
Our new paper showing two new doxycycline mechanisms against the ribosome has been accepted at Nature comms! 👌 The early access version is available here: www.nature.com/articles/s41... @daumlab.bsky.social @the-gold-lab.bsky.social @lsiexeter.bsky.social @exeter.ac.uk
Thermus thermophilus forms two distinct type IV pili. Cryo-electron microscopy, mutagenesis, structural predictions and simulations reveal their structures, glycan flexibility, and a hypothetical model of pilus assembly.

The common antibiotic doxycycline inhibits the ribosome. Here, using cryo-EM, the authors identify additional binding sites for doxycycline in the Coxiella burnetii and E. coli ribosomes.
