Lionel Jeffries - born 100 years ago today. Here he is at Oakworth Station, Yorkshire, during the shoot of his debut feature as director, THE RAILWAY CHILDREN (1970). Some of us remain enormously grateful. It was one of the films that made a young me fall in love with cinema.
PS - have put 10 particular favourites at the top of the list, but the rest are in no order whatsoever.
1/3. Bridport’s first cinema was the Electric Palace on Barrack Street. It opened on 26 February 1912 with an eclectic programme including Maiden of the Pie Faced Indians, Niagara Falls and Siege of Calais.
