Here is Anna and her colleague working on the installation of the window yesterday.
As well as showcasing our country's nature it also highlights that on our doorstep - you can see right through to our garden and its green space beyond! 💚
Should you want to find out more about the window and to see some photos of it being created, do have a read of our news/blog here:
When we saw this mosaic…
The artist who worked on the window - Anna Milsom took photographs of the flowers in the Hall's garden as well as inspiration from elsewhere.
Just look at the details on the butterfly and thistle. We also have an interloper on the next picture...
We have a new window. It's BEAUTIFUL. Or should that be it's AGLAZING.
Created by York Glaziers Trust it was made to commemorate the Coronation of King Charles III and the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
It also showcases Britain's flora and fauna...are you ready to see some close ups?
What British garden scene is not complete without a snail?
Ours is making its merry way along the bottom of the window.
Spot the spider?
When Anna was measuring the original window, a little arachnid came to say hello so Anna made sure to include them.
There's also a dragonfly and bee too!
This is a tansy beetle and very very rare.
They can only be found on the banks of the River Ouse here in York and now immortalised on our window!
Yesterday was buff Satan.
Today is Satan but make it the Gruffalo.
This rather friendly looking Satan is from the following:
Livre de la Vigne Nostre Seigneur, French, ca. 1460 (Bodleian MS Douce 134).

We have been working on getting several of our prints restored and remounted.
On the back of a fairly normal view of York we found this.
Everyone, meet buff Satan.

Welcome to the gym....
Two bare handed athletes in the entry hall offer a taste of what's to come in the Gymnasium of the Iuvenes in Pompeii.
Colourful frescos within the large #Roman men's thermal bath complex beyond feature wrestling, jumping, weights and other exercises.
