🛰️ Reminder: EUMETSAT’s 40th anniversary image competition is open! 🎁 3 winners will receive: • An exclusive satellite model • A EUMETSAT goodie bag • Their image featured as our Image of the Week
To celebrate EUMETSAT’s 40th anniversary, we’re inviting you to explore imagery of our Earth from space. 🌍🚀 If you’ve ever been mesmerised by a swirling hurricane, a massive dust storm, or the sheer beauty of Earth from space, this is your chance to share that wonder! [1/7]
Phytoplankton are microscopic marine algae that form the basis of marine food chains. 🪸🐟🪼 Our image of the week shows probable phytoplankton swirls in the southern Black Sea. The image was captured by one of the Copernicus Sentinel-3 satellites on 25 May 2026. Read more: bit.ly/4uD5vqD
Not all satellites see the same thing 👀 Later this year we will be launching: 🛰️ MTG-I2 🌊 Sentinel-3C 🌐 Metop-SGB1 While each will see the Earth a little differently, together, they will help us understand it better. 🌍 More info on each mission can be found at our website: eumetsat.int

Want to know more about Earth observation and Earth sciences in a centralised and user-friendly way? Meet EVE (Earth Virtual Expert) 💙🌍 (I love writing about these things ❤️)
One of the things I love about my job is to write about the use of AI and Earth observation data to tackle public health issues 🌎🛰💉🩸 Read my latest @esa.int Φ-lab article on DIRE, a platform that will help governments prepare better for dengue and malaria outbreaks. Thank you, @esaearth.esa.int! 💚
