Happy to share that my paper "Physical Coherence and Time's Emergence" was accepted in Synthese! Preprint here: philpapers.org/rec/CHUPCA-6 I provide a thin necessary criterion for successful emergence of time, building on my works on semiclassical & thermal time. #philsci #philsky #philphys

This past week, @yichenluo.bsky.social & I shared our works in foundations of quantum & relativistic thermodynamics w/ colleagues at Peking University & the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Philosophy. It was lovely to learn from the phil sci & physics community there! #philsky #philsci
Chanced upon this evocative piece at Lake Lugano: "The Death of Socrates", Mark Antokowski (replica).

Looking forward to 2-and-a-half talks next week w/ @yichenluo.bsky.social at PKU & CASIP! Yichen will share our current work on analogies and disanalogies between integrable quantum stat mech and classical TD, while I'll speak on the "work" concept in quantum TD, and classical TD in relativity.
Together w/ @miguelohn.bsky.social, I present the 2nd Foundations of Thermodynamics Workshop! We'll trace equilibrium reasoning from Archimedes, (post-)Newton, classical thermo, early QM, GR, to quantum thermo, bio, & econs. Abstracts: www.eugenechua.com/ftg2026-find... #philsky #philphys #philsci
My paper with @yichenluo.bsky.social is up on @thebjps.bsky.social! We develop some ways physicists check their models without "full reversal" or "full representation". #philsci

Got to share some new work on integrable quantum statistical mechanics (w/ @yichenluo.bsky.social) and learnt so much talking and listening to others at the Lugano workshop on stat mech & info theory! Lugano is such a beautiful city and I hope to be back soon.

Eugene Y. S. Chua, Physical Coherence and Time's Emergence - PhilPapers
It is often said that time vanishes in quantum gravity. One general approach to quantum gravity accepts this fundamental timelessness but seeks to derive time’s emergence at a non-fundamental level. T...
