This company was started Finnieston in 1904 by Walter Bergius to build cars, including the engines. The cars only had limited success, but in 1906, his brother William put one of the engines in a boat and this instantly proved much more successful.

As a result, the company pivoted to focus on producing launches and engines instead, and moved to these larger, custom-built premises in 1910. By 1915, they were producing over 700 marine engines here a year.

Love these stained glass swallows on the Art Deco style Kelvin Court on Great Western Road in Glasgow. Designed by J.N. Fatkin and constructed in 1938, Kelvin Court was essentially the first luxury flat development in the city.

The impressive edifice of Saint Columba's Parish Church in Woodside in Glasgow. Designed by Gillespie, Kidd and Cola in the Italian Romanesque style, it was completed in 1941.

Love the colours and the font on this vintage sign for the Glasgow Sound Centre in the Anderston Centre in Glasgow. It also has the old 041 dialing code for the city, which was replaced with the current 0141 code on the 16th of April 1995.

Glasgow is built on a post-glacial landscape filled with low, but steep hills called drumlins. This didn't stop the city's Victorian architects and there are many examples where their designs have simply taken such challenges in their stride.

This looks like it could be a grand hotel somewhere in the Scottish Highlands, but it is, in fact, part of a former engineering works on Woodville Street in Ibrox area of Glasgow. It was designed by A Hamilton and was built in the 1910s.
