Thomas Rowlandson, 'Giving Up The Ghost', 18th Century. Always good fun, Rowlandson. I'm not sure who the One Too Many is - the physician who may have incompetently poisoned him, the undertaker (?) or Death himself. Can anyone make out the words on the label and floor?

This must be the only painting by John Constable of a haunted house: the magnificent Tudor Cowdray House, #WestSussex, which burnt down in the 18th C (due to a curse, states #folklore). Researcher David Scanlan noted reports of two ghosts, both of women who walk about near the ruins.

Winchester Mansion is as curious for its peculiar labyrinthine architecture as for its hauntings. Made by the heiress of the Winchester rifle company, construction didn't halt until her death. The ghosts vary in age and gender, going to doors, through walls. #PhantomsFriday
The McPherson Playhouse theatre in Victoria, BC, Canada has received visits from the "Grey Lady" over the last 75 years. This ghost wears a long, blue-grey dress and wanders the theatre's balcony; sometimes she floats above the actors. No one knows her true identity.
