And this comes on top of everything Iranian students are already facing: war, the bombing of their universities, uncertainty, economic pressure and more than two months of internet blockade. It is incredibly hard for students in Iran to keep pursuing their interests.
For many Iranian students, Neuromatch was one of the few bridges to the international neuroscience community. Iranian students and TAs have contributed so much to it. Many of us, including me, found neuroscience through Neuromatch. This decision by Trump’s gov is cruel, unjust and a loss for science
Excited to be a part of this!
So many cool atlases are going to be packaged and released soon!
Going from neural activity to blood flow just became easier! Two brainwide populations, each with its neurovascular coupling. (But going backwards... is now a tad more complicated.)

A migratory bird brain, the Eurasian blackcap, has been mapped for the first time using high-resolution light microscopy.
The open-source software tools developed form a foundation for new brain atlases to be built for any species, providing a valuable resource.
This is the first of many collaborations to build novel anatomical atlases. We want to expand advanced computational anatomy to new fields. If this sounds interesting, get in touch!

We have difficult news to share.
Neuromatch's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) license renewal, which has allowed us to include participants residing in Iran since 2020, has been denied by the United States Government.
