Doing a linear stretch on these images shows how dramatic the "edits" were, revealing the deception in clear terms.
This should be a complete scandal for Thermo Fisher and more people in the biosciences should be talking about it.
The Thermo Fisher situation keeps getting worse. We've now collected 450+ problematic images presented as verification data in TF's antibody catalog. This includes:
🖌️ Dozens more images with duplications or painting
🖨️ Hundreds of blots that all share the same background (behold slideshow below)

As per usual. Every time one of these rabbit holes is found, it's deep. No surprise this holds true in the coorporate world.

The ESCRT machinery mediates repair of damaged lysosomal membranes. But how does it recognise damage? Authors @nature report LASER, a fast-forming protein assembly that detects Ca2+-leakage from sites of lysosomal injury and recruits ESCRTs there.

Thrilled to be joining the ZMBH, where my lab will continue to explore the evolution and engineering of living membranes. Farewell @bcube-tud.bsky.social...I couldn't imagine a better place to have started my lab! I'm perpetually grateful to my lab group for making this such a successful adventure!!
ATG8 conjugation on damaged lysosomes triggers rapid assembly of a protein complex containing TFG, which directs lysosomal membrane repair by recruiting ESCRT proteins to sites of damage.
To read - this puts another journal on the "do not publish there" list.
Dollie is great - go work with her!
Great news & well deserved! Congrats Simon!!!

Pretty cool!! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
Last year, we showed that membranes can be asymmetric in an unexpected way: more phospholipids on one side than the other, balanced by cholesterol asymmetry.
Here, Bogdanov et al show similar in EColi, with DAG doing cholesterol's flippy-buffering job
Congratulations 🍾 to @anh-nhn.bsky.social on her successful PhD defense today: Deciphering the role of lipidome complexity using Mesoplasma florum!! Time to celebrate 🎉 @bcube-tud.bsky.social

Transmembrane (TM) asymmetry of glycerophospholipids in the plasma membrane is well established, yet still a complex and evolving area of study regarding the exact mechanisms, magnitude, and compositi...
🔬🚀 It's out! Run 100s of imaging experiments before touching a microscope. #VLab4Mic reproduces them in silico from PDB/AlphaFold to help you image right first time. From rockstars Damián Martínez & Bruno Saraiva, inaugural preprint of @mariodelr.bsky.social new lab

I’ve officially resigned as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience. It used to be a reputable journal, but became a case study in how forced automation destroys academic integrity. 👇
