The international seminar AI meets Language offers a space for dialogue and reflection on the emerging connections between applied linguistics and artificial intelligence (AI). In a context where natural language has become a central axis of technological developments, this event will bring together prominent scholars from various universities to explore how AI tools are transforming language analysis. It will be a hybrid event (held both virtually and in person) and will offer free registration to all attendees. It will take place in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Arts at Universidad de Córdoba and will include a range of workshops and presentations. Specifically, the seminar will feature three keynote lectures delivered by international experts in computational linguistics and natural language processing (NLP), who will address both the theoretical foundations and the latest applications of AI in language studies. In addition, four theoretical-practical workshops will be offered, designed to encourage active participation from attendees. These workshops will cover topics such as the use of large language models (LLMs) in linguistic tasks, the creation of digital corpora, machine translation, AI-assisted discourse analysis, and the development of linguistic resources using computational tools. Finally, the event will also include two roundtable discussions featuring the seminar speakers and other invited experts, with a Q&A format, to address the topics covered during the seminar, as well as the future of applied linguistics with AI and its applications in research. AI meets Language is aimed at researchers, educators, master’s and postgraduate students, and professionals interested in the interdisciplinary intersection of language, technology, and society. The seminar will also serve as an opportunity to strengthen academic collaboration networks and open new lines of joint research.
