I'm very sad to hear that Marjane Satrapi passed away today at the age of 56. It's not often that an author gets to adapt their own book into a film, but she got to do so with Persepolis and I remember really adoring that film when I saw it. I'm very sad to hear of her death.
The fact that Netflix is still trying to play the "we don't believe in theatrical" card when films like Obsession and Backrooms are killing at the box office is so pathetic and lame that it's not even funny. They know they have to evolve cause movies in theaters ain't going.
Here's some concept art of King George and Mabel from Hoppers drawn by Anna Scott. I seriously love how special and sweet this film is, in addition to being just insane and hilarious.
I managed to see Another World and I was truly blown away. It’s a shame GKIDS didn’t give this a bigger release because it is one of the most haunting and emotionally enveloping animated film experiences I’ve seen in a long time. If you’re able to in the future, please see it.
Cartoon Saloon has announced they're currently working on a Wolfwalkers prequel series called Mebh and the Wolf Pups, which will follow Mebh growing up with her wolf pack and learning to be a wolfwalker. Considering how great the movie is, this already has my attention.
I ended up revisiting bits of Who Framed Roger Rabbit just for fun and I'm always amazed by how good the filmmaking is. The scene with Eddie Valliant in his office is some amazing storytelling with Zemeckis and Dean Cundey allowing the camera to tell all alongside the score.
The Academy has announced that it will award Floyd Norman an Honorary Academy Award. Given his important status in animation which includes being the first African American animator to work at Disney and the many films he helped work on, this is such a well deserved honor!

With Toy Story 5 coming out next week, here are some of the color scripts for Toy Story 2 drawn by Jim Pearson back when the film was envisioned as a direct-to-video release before it was upgraded to theaters. It's interesting to see knowing how a lot of it really changed.

Netflix film chief Dan Lin has reaffirmed that they will not work with directors who want theatrical releases.
“There is a group of filmmakers who still want theatrical. Those are filmmakers that we’ve accepted we just won’t work with.”
