I used to think soccer was boring until I started watching in Spanish. Now I'm watching the world cup on Telemundo and it's great.
The disappointment I see when I tell gay men I enjoy watching soccer is intense; for some of them the nerd/jock war never ended and I'm mocking their service by even acknowledging a "sportsball"
Having unfortunately fallen down a rabbit hole of social media posts from English people complaining about the World Cup and America's lack of reverence or decorum for it, I've come to the realization that the English by and large don't find soccer/football any fun
