Only Nerites could keep up, and Poseidon calmed the waters and caused the sea to part, so that his favorite, in addition to his beauty, would be esteemed for his excellence as a swimmer.
Nerites was a Nereid, Amphitrite's only male sibling.
He and Poseidon loved each other, and Nerites became his favorite. From their union was born the god of mutual love, Anteros.
The two spent much time together, and when Poseidon took his chariot to race through the waves, great fish, dolphins, and tritons danced around him, but his horses were too fast and he left them behind.
Helios watched them from the sky and became jealous, so he transformed Nerites into a spiral shell.
It was never known whether his jealousy was due to the Nereid's speed or whether he wished that Nerites, instead of travelling across the sea, would travel among the constellations at his side.

Part 3 of the Hecuba and Odysseus comic
Here we move away from the story of Hecuba for a while to talk about another event that happened at the end of the Trojan War. Do you know what it is?
Another piece of lore from the "Eros' Arrow" AU, which changes the events of Odyssey after che encounter with Polyphemus 👁
I also decided to change the color of the narrative box to differentiate it from the Hecuba's and Odysseus' comic and maybe make it easier to read.
