4/5 The state has committed $365 million in taxpayer dollars already pending a city deal with the Blazers. A fair deal rests with Mayor and City Council

1/4 Important journalism by today from the @portlandmercury.com revealed racist, misogynistic, and dehumanizing texts from a well-connected Portland developer.
Business leaders’ efforts to cut preschool for all completely underestimated the importance of early child care to our economy and parents. So does @oregonian’s news coverage. Moms and parents spoke loudly and clearly and stopped Brim Edwards proposed cuts.
3/4 Owendoff is a donor to the Mayor, and Future Portland endorsed the more conservative members of council. Similar to Trump, we know this racist and misogynistic language seeks to diminish people of color, the folks working hard to defend working people across the city.
4/4 We call on the Mayor to denounce this Owendoff and Future Portland's racist language. Tomorrow, we ask Portlanders to wear blue or purple to support BIPOC councilors during the 9 a.m. session to elect the next council president.
3/5. However @ripcitynotripoff.bsky.social dug into the data. Only $163 million are necessary repairs to maintain this public building. The remaining $341 million is for Blazers’ revenue generating upgrades. That’s should be on them.
2/4. We learned that Developer Brian Owendoff was texting with Future Portland and Partnership for Progress while the city council was debating who should be the next council president.
Contact your city council via our automated letter on Portlandforall.org/moda and go deep on the data at RipCityNotRipOff.com
1/5 @ripcitynotripoff.bsky.social just reviewed the city’s independent report for renovations to Moda Center. The numbers are far less than what we are being asked to pay.

The city’s independent arena experts report Moda repairs and upgrades would cost $253 million in today’s dollars. That’s $505 over 20 years.
