I'm 120 lines into my annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe Free Show list. I'm still on the Comedy section. Gonna be a BIG year for the Fringe, I can tell by the chonky size of the programme. But as always... remember, you can do it on a budget, and there is no shortage of stuff to see.
I might just write my own Doctor Who Xmas special and act it out with playdough and tea cups. Or maybe I should drink less at Christmas…

This episode has really got me thinking about narrative world building. It reminds me a bit of that YouTube essay from The Closer Look where Henry breaks down how Skyrim’s economy doesn’t work at all, since you can make gold using magic. It’s amazing how many games ignore actual economics.
The Kaleidoscope podcast episodes continue to be a brilliant insight into the minds of game writers and narrative design. (Just like the book) Personally, I’m continually fascinated by the perceptions of narrative morality, which come up more often than not. Often as unquestioned assumptions.
In light of the recent #DoctorWho news, I may as well remind people that I have lengthy, ongoing thoughts about this show... I can talk and write about Doctor Who for literal days...
Since this will likely be the first year I'm posting it on BlueSky, my #EdFringe show list, is a spreadsheet of Free shows at the @edfringe.bsky.social put together in a way that is handy to organise a few days of fun, without breaking the bank. I do this every year. It's how I give back.
