Fascinating watching ITV trying to do iconic World Cup moments when for most of them the audience were watching on the BBC.

The BBC should be asking anyone pitching for the series "do you want to tell stories, or do you want to spend your time appeasing fans who will never be happy because you can't make any them eight years old again?"
"Whoever takes over Who will annoy fans if they don't explain Billie's appearance" and "we're having problems writing a Bond script becauae we have to deal with him dying in the last film" are prime exhibits in the case for why "canon" must die.
