Today has been the hottest day in May on record with Kew Gardens provisionally reaching 34.8°C - exceeding the previous highest May temperature in the UK by a full 2 degrees Celsius🌡️
This heat would be exceptional in the UK even in mid summer, let alone in May📈

Le radiosondage de Trappes de la mi-journée confirme une hauteur du niveau de pression 500 hPa à 5940 m, record en mai, qui caractérise un dôme de chaleur puissant. L'air sous ce niveau de pression s'est considérablement réchauffé, devenu moins dense, il "gonfle" la colonne d'air. #heatdome

Heute wurde auch in der #Deutschschweiz an mehreren Messstationen der erste #Hitzetag des Jahres registriert (Höchsttemperatur ≥ 30 °C). Im langjährigen Mittel (1991-2020) ist dies etwa zwei bis drei Wochen früher als normal. Schweizweit am heissesten war es mit 32.3 Grad in #Visp:
