I actually see strong parallels between how low-attainment learners treat LLMs and calculators. In both cases they see use of these tools as a way to bypass understanding processes. They will often plug nonsense into these tools, receive nonsense out, and insist that this must be correct.

The calculator industry didn't end up being 40% of the stock market. Digital clocks didn't threaten that everyone's degrees would be useless and that no-one with an independent mind would ever find employment.
