I don’t claim to be any kind of expert on Hattersley, but from what I saw of him both during the 80s/early 90s and later he came across as a sincere, constructive, intelligent and decent politician. RIP.
RIP Roy Hattersley. A pragmatic style of politics in unswerving service of radical, egalitarian ends. A rare blend then, which would be rarer still today.
