Remember when I said this? I was fresh off recording an episode of MAIHT3K with @emilymbender.bsky.social & @alexhanna.bsky.social, during which we analyzed (and mocked!) Bernie's descent into AI doomerism. peertube.dair-institute.org/w/jV5u1DVL4b... or wherever your get your podcasts.
Re not an AI researcher - I am not invested in the project of "AI" and in fact reject it whole heartedly. I am a computational linguist, and computational linguistics is a research field in its own right. doi.org/10.48448/fm2...
The metaphor of the stochastic parrot is still helpful for understanding LLMs and anything built with them (called "AI agents" or whatever you like), ofc. But no, I didn't "describe AI agents are stochastic parrots."
1. I am not an AI researcher 2. "Doesn't just repeat back to you what you said" ... isn't what any chatbots do, nor what that metaphor was about. 3. For the millionth time, that paper was about LLMs, not "AI" and definitely not "AI agents" medium.com/@emilymenonb...

Captions, cont: Alex: What a low bar! Nathalie: It's 2026, okay? You look for the silver linings where you can find them. But again, as you were saying, objectively, this is still cuckoo and bad.
Why Bernie why?? @nathaliemarechal.net joins me and @alexhanna.bsky.social to observe and contextualize Sen Sanders’ descent into AI Doomerism: www.buzzsprout.com/2126417/epis...
Just finished reading The AI Con by @emilymbender.bsky.social and @alexhanna.bsky.social - I recommend that anyone who also feels like there's something creepy and outright weird about AI boosters read this book. It provides a lot of answer to the questions I had. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_AI_...

The headline highlights how cartoonishly evil this all is --- but the body of the story is more interesting, especially the work of the long-time resident who is working to use the deed as leverage to get the long-promised park.
