Someone quoted me to say that gamers say games are art but only go to bat for toys, and if you can only see art in something that tells you it's art so you can understand it as art, go fuck yourself.
It's a game that has advertising in it, because our life is filled with advertising, you're constantly being marketed to as you sprint to make a dollar. It has all the hallmarks of corporatism and business, but still feels punk. Bad Religion screams at you from the radio it's Them and Us.
It's a game that clashes a normal job with people who shouldn't have that job and makes it a statement about the people who work these jobs and the rat race of capitalism, the myth of unskilled labor. You're a maniac on the road and the best at what you do, no one can get to a destination faster.

Crazy Taxi is a maximalist game. You drive a giant American muscle car or luxury sedan painted to look like a taxi, the HUD is exploding out the screen at you, the money ticker looks like a slot machine, the drivers are all alt, punk rock, bikers, the dregs of society, the music is loud and angry.
You don't need a car, just spend all of your money on Angel's taxi service.
