Twenty years ago, scientists feared a future dominated by exploding coal use and runaway emissions. Today, solar panels and electric vehicles have changed the math, but climate change is far from solved:

Trump posted that scenario RCP8.5 no longer being plausible is an admission that the IPCC was "WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!". That's of course incorrect and also ironic, since RCP8.5 envisioned a very Trumpian future. It's also a bit of good news, as I explore for @climateconnections.bsky.social (🧵 1/7)
