They didn't lose it.
It was stolen from them.
This one's important. Multiple people I know have been denied gender affirming care for size reasons and medical professionals need to get on it.

There are no good-faith anti-trans arguments and no acceptable compromises on trans lives
I'm reminded again that the first people to suggest secession in the 1850s were the abolitionists, because they couldn't tolerate the federalization of Fugitive Slave Laws. But actual secession came because of the mere *threat* that the federal government might protect the rights of the enslaved.
The Doctor visits a university to discover that there is no history department, not because interference with the timeline has made their labor fruitless, but because they were defunded as humorless scolds for explaining why a time traveler couldn't possibly effect meaningful change...

Recent cuts to safety-net programs and higher living costs could add further pressure to kids already struggling, a report warns.
I suffered, being made to go through the wrong puberty. I don't want the people out there who are the kid I was, to suffer. *Making* them wait until 19 and have their bodies change into something they don't recognize, before they access HRT, is monstrous torture that you cis people cannot fathom.
