I just kick the seed heads about before finally mowing them. Spreads the seeds adequately.
Speed with which Yellow Rattle becomes established seems rather variable. Front lawn took off quickly, whereas back lawn was very slow.
I've only collected seed to help a neighbour's patch get started.
