The research group of the Chair of Empirical Microeconomics at the Institute of Economics at Leuphana University Lüneburg focuses on: (1) individual consumer decisions with regard to social responsibility and sustainability; (2) incentive and distributional effects of various energy and climate policy instruments; (3) social identity; and (4) effects of generative AI on behavior and productivity. We coordinate the research cluster “Behavioral Economics and Societal Transformation”, which consolidates behavioral economics expertise across seven universities in Lower Saxony. The cluster comprises approximately 15 professors and 30 doctoral researchers and postdoctoral fellows, and focuses in particular on transformational topics such as climate change, digitalization and automation, migration and war, and demographic change.
