The magic LTN sauce of making egregiously short car journeys mildly annoying such that you may as well walk, is absolutely key to why they work so well.
I'm not sure the UK government is in any position to moralise about the dangers of the internet while continuing to treat X as an official communications platform.
Andrew Gilligan may not be a very nice man, but he understood that real change is going to be felt, and not everyone is going to like it. Same as you can't expect to get fit without being prepared to feel tired, sweaty, maybe a little out of breath at times.
It would be better if over 60s were banned from Facebook. That radicalisation of that generation, by that platform, is the bigger threat to society.
I am once again reminding the prime Minister that we have trashed all our third spaces for teenagers and children and if you're going to ban them from the internet you need to provide them with alternatives. Absolutely ridiculous policy. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
