Exciting news for #Climate analysis and monitoring. @climatologist49.bsky.social
Extremely excited to share that my first paper “Evaluating CMIP6 models for near-surface air temperature over Antarctic Ice Shelves” is published in the Journal of Glaciology! The first paper is always the hardest. Excited to continue investigating Antarctic ice shelf vulnerability!

🧊 A great new feature piece in @physicstoday.bsky.social by ACEAS CIs Dr Catherine Vreugdenhil and Dr Bishakhdatta Gayen from @unimelb.bsky.social that unravels the mysteries of Antarctic ice‑shelf melting.

Excited to see this one out today! 🥳 It's been great working with @tomchudley.bsky.social during his time at @geogdurham.bsky.social - takes me right back to my roots researching englacial meltwater transfer. More to come on this in the future too!
Nice summary of the importance of Antarctica's ice shelves and how little we know about them. Major differences between models of present day ice shelf melt need to be resolved.

Abstract. Societal adaptation to rising sea levels requires robust projections of the Antarctic Ice Sheet's retreat, particularly due to ocean-driven basal melting of its fringing ice shelves. Recent ...

I am beyond grateful to be a part of such a supportive graduate student community. So excited to have my first paper mug! Watch out department seminars. I’m arriving in style ☕️

@agu.org The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is seeking community feedback on its draft position statements. This is your chance to help shape the science and policy priorities of AGU. The deadline to participate is March 30th! Click here: www.agu.org/Science-Poli...
Extra grateful for pottery as a way to decompress from PhD life. I’m designing a piece for my dissertation inspired by the changing polar environment—to bring a little calm to a stressful moment. An homage to an ice shelf that (hopefully) doesn’t collapse. #Pottery #ArtandScience #cryosphere

The fate of the planet’s coastlines depends on how fast Antarctica’s ice sheets melt. We don’t know what’s coming #Climate
Some regions of the continent have enough ice to push up sea levels by 15 metres if they all melt, but researchers don’t yet fully understand the consequences
The production of ERA6, coming up in 2027, has started. The next‑generation climate reanalysis from #CopernicusClimate will offer >2× finer resolution than ERA5, a coupled ocean–atmosphere–wave model, improved data access & more.
