With roughly a fifth-of the vote counted in Nevada, the leader in the GOP primary for secretary of state is... Sharron Angle. (!) (Still a long way to go, the primary looks tight.)

To break this down: Most cases result in people pleading guilty to them (more rapid, less punitive, than going to trial). You'd need that high standard AT TRIAL, but prosecutors get away with not having to meet that standard through pressure to plea. The idea of this rule would be to avoid that.
The Republican DA of Nevada's Washoe County adopted a rule that prosecutors can only file a charge when they are confident they can prove guilt for that charge beyond a reasonable doubt. Police unions didn't like it, and helped a challenger in today's primary. The challenger appears to have won.

This primary's most heated moments probably came from attacks between Nancy Mace and Alan Wilson (Mace accused Wilson of not prosecuting crimes against women), but Mace just endorsed Wilson upon conceding. 🤷‍♂️

The GOP's South Carolina primary for governor will have a runoff, AP calls. It'll be between Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette, the Trump-endorsed candiate, & Attorney General Alan Wilson. That means that Nancy Mace and Ralph Norman have lost. (They also both gave up their House reelection bids.)
Senator Lindsey Graham has won the GOP nomination for Senate, the AP calls. Challengers ran to his right but couldn't keep him under 50% to force a runoff.

At this stage, it certainly looks like 2 other major Dem primaries, in the governor's race and in the House race to replace Golden, will have to wait for ranked-choice voting to be tabulated.
The Nevada Independent previewed the race and this dynamic here: thenevadaindependent.com/article/wash...
