I don’t think we can. It started with Boris Johnson, jumping on my son’s murder, in the middle of the 2019 general election campaign, to claim it was all Labour’s fault for being soft on crime (it wasn’t) and using it to ramp up sentences, when it happened on the Tories’ watch when they’d been in
