We just published our new paper about an active Helitron transposon in wheat 🌾🧬
We found that it can be mobilised by heat stress when DNA methylation is reduced.
We document its full lifecycle: RNA -> circular DNA -> integration

We even managed to identify the one autonomous Helitron copy that mobilised the non-autonomous ones. Thanks to a super sensitive method we were also able to detect somatic insertions events in the gigantic wheat genome 😅
