Snow loving humans will also struggle exercising restraint and good judgement after long periods of crappy snow during and after the increasingly intense storms. It is easy to predict that avalanche danger will spike during/after these storms, making good decisions is much harder.
Sierra snow has historically been boom and bust, big storms and with dry spells between, as this pattern increases it brings intensely spiking avalanche risk during powerful snow storms that can also be exacerbated by the weakening of the snow surface during the dry spells.
The FS road accessing this area is still gated, so my friend and I used e-bikes to help with the approach to Jobs Peak. Roughly 15 miles round trip, ~ 7 miles on e-bikes, with the rest a mix of hiking, snowboarding, and skinning. #splitboarding #laketahoe #jobspeak
