this is also one of the best human experiences to have from the other side too!! Someone who regularly comments on all my works left a new comment this week and when I saw their name I smiled so big!! I'm so happy to see them and grateful they're here!!
i have theories but the main one is that zj wasn't hot enough. which is not something that remotely factors into who i ship and why but apparently does for a lot of people
LRP: the fact that I went so fucking feral over that ship but fandom at large didn't is my roman empire
it's also one of those scenes that you really can't take by itself. the build up through the whole show is what makes it so impactful and you really can't skip any other scenes and still get the same effect. also IT MEANS NOTHING it's all ultimately just empty catharsis!! GOD i love them
while i'm on my word of honor bullshit i'm gonna say again that xie'er's monologue to zhao jing at the climax of the show is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking things I've ever seen an actor do on screen and I think about it REGULARLY. li daikun ate that up and deserves 27 chinese emmys
