Another Haeckel plate for World Ocean Day. This one depicts a variety of marine annelid worm species labeled Chaetopoda, an obsolete taxonomical term. A favorite that I’ve posted before, it looks even more striking in person.

Unlike free-swimming jellyfish, Stauromedusa are sessile cnidarians that attach to surfaces like seaweed or rocks & are the sole living members of the class Staurozoa.
