Had a college prof who told us one of his former students listed Catholicism as a pagan religion vs. Christianity, which was strange to me.

Growing up in a Christian high school, we'd regularly hear "Christian or Catholic." Plenty of Christians see Catholics as a separate thing altogether. John Hagee called the Catholic Church "The Great Whore" and later apologized after he backed John McCain.
