This is why I'm still on social media
Hopefully the middle name isn’t Unpaid.
I'm sorry, I might have made a mistake. Freelance might be the writer's first name. The last name is Contributor.
[This calls for the accusatory duck]
There's a review of THE FURIOUS in @sfchronicle.com that carries the writing credit "by Freelance." Who is this Freelance, I wonder? Could I talk to them? Is there a photo of them anywhere? What other pieces has Freelance written for you? www.sfchronicle.com/entertainmen...
This is why I was so angry with my own political kinfolk in 2016, 2020, and 2024. Every time some podcast jackass complained about the Democrats' supposed "focus on identity politics" (not a real thing, BTW) & said we should focus on class/economics, I wanted to yell out the window "also bigotry!"
"We need to concentrate on economics, on kitchen table issues." Well, then, if you're honest, you're gonna have to talk about bigotry. "We should have a serious national discussion about pollution." Also bigotry. "The ranks of the permanently unemployed have grown too large." Bigotry, we gotcha.
Every serious problem afflicting this country eventually comes back to some kind of bigotry that has been encoded in law or custom. Sometimes it takes you five or six jumps to arrive there, but it's always the destination.
