As the son of a cab driver these were always one of my favourite things around London. I used to love meeting my dad at these places for a fat bacon roll and a cup of tea.

Embankment taxi shelter. Small green hut, no bigger than a horse and cart. Between 1875-1914 there were 61 of them built in London selling food & non-alcoholic drinks to cabbies. The shelters also had tables, seats, books & newspapers donated by publishers. Now Grade II listed, eleven survive.
