#OTD 30 years ago - 19 June 1996, a former gasworks site on the north of Greenwich Peninsula was selected by the Millennium Commission as location of the Millennium Exhibition. The NEC Birmingham, Pride Park in Derby and Bromley-by-Bow in East London were the other locations on the final short list.
