Why has housing construction ground to a halt in DC? Market-rate and affordable development are both crashing ā but not for the same reasons.
1. London Underground station flooding has reportedly been reduced by around 90% thanks to a group of engineers: beavers.
After conservationists reintroduced a family of beavers into a nearby city park, the animals built dams and restored wetlands that now absorb and slow floodwater naturally.

Here's the precinct map of D.C., and you can see that @janeese4dc.bsky.social has so far cleaned up in almost all central parts of D.C., which includes Ward 1 and Ward 6, much of wards 4 and 5, and most of east of the river. This is an impressive showing by any measure.
